Physiotherapy is a science-based health care profession. Physiotherapists believe that movement is crucial to health and wellbeing. The work of a physiotherapist involves:
- Promoting good health
- Advising on how to prevent injury
- Treating patients
- Rehabilitation
Physiotherapists use hands-on techniques, exercise and high tech equipment to treat patients with a wide range of physical conditions as well as taking into account psychological, social and cultural factors. The main aim is to enable patients to regain as high a level of independence as possible.
Physiotherapists have a problem solving approach to patient care and the freedom to make their own clinical decisions.
Physiotherapists work with people of all ages with a wide range of problems e.g. children with cerebral palsy, elderly patients with poor mobility, employees in large companies with repetitive strain injuries, patients of all ages in their own homes - giving treatment and advice and so on. |
